Having children think up their own endings to stories helps develop their imagination. Being ready to learn includes a healthy dose of creativity! You can also ask "What if...?" and see what ideas they come up with.
Try This: Read Little Red Hen (any version), or Gunniwolf by Wilhelmina Harper, or any book that can have different endings. Ask children how they might change the ending. Or ask a what-if question to see how they would change the story.
